Community Guidelines

Effective date: April 3, 2023

Introduction

Tangent is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and respectful community of talent (seeking mentorship and referrals) and mentors (providing mentorship and referrals). Our platform is built on the principles of mutual respect, professional integrity, and continuous development.

By adhering to these guidelines, you help ensure a safe, respectful, and professional environment for all Tangent users. Our platform is dedicated to providing a secure space for professional growth and networking, and we rely on the cooperation and commitment of our community members to maintain these standards.

Personal Interactions and Data Sharing

At Tangent, we prioritise the safety, privacy, and security of our community members. To uphold these values, we have specific guidelines regarding personal interactions and the sharing of personal data between talent and mentors. These guidelines are designed to protect all parties and maintain the integrity of our platform.

Avoid In-Person Meetings

  • Safety First: We strongly advise against arranging in-person meetings with individuals you have connected with through Tangent. Our platform is designed to facilitate safe, effective online interactions, such as instant messaging and video calls, for mentorship and networking.
  • Maintain Professional Boundaries: Keeping interactions within the Tangent platform helps maintain professional boundaries and ensures that all communications are conducted in a safe, monitored environment.

Do Not Share Personal Data

  • Protect Your Information: Personal data, including but not limited to phone numbers, home addresses, personal email addresses, or any other information that could compromise your privacy and security, should not be shared with other users on the platform.
  • Confidentiality: The confidentiality of personal and professional information is paramount. Sharing personal data can expose both mentors and talent to unnecessary risks, including but not limited to privacy breaches and unsolicited contact.

Platform Communication

  • Use Tangent’s Tools: To facilitate mentorship and networking, Tangent provides various communication tools, including instant messaging and video call features. These tools are designed to protect your privacy and should be used for all communications related to mentorship and networking on our platform.
  • Report Concerns: If you receive requests for in-person meetings or sharing of personal data that make you uncomfortable, or if you encounter any behaviour that violates our Community Standards, please report these concerns to Tangent administration immediately.

User Discretion and Responsibility

  • Exercise Caution: While we strive to create a safe and secure environment, it is important for all users to exercise caution and use good judgment in their interactions. Be mindful of the information you share and the relationships you foster on the platform.
  • Responsibility: Users are responsible for their own safety and privacy. Tangent cannot be held liable for the consequences of personal decisions to share information or engage in off-platform interactions.
