Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now
I grew up on one of the poorest council estates in the UK, and always had a yearning to solve problems through speaking & listening to people.
I like to live an active and healthy lifestyle, mainly so I can eat more delicious food!
I have been with Carta for nearly 3 years, where I have coached most of the SDRs through promotions, set several sales records including the top 3 biggest deals closed in Europe in company history, and earned the award of Presidents Club.
What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales
Very non traditional. I studied nutrition at university, and whilst I still take a keen interest, I dropped out. I wanted to move to London and get stuck into real working life. So I did. Before tech sales, I worked several sales & sales manager jobs, from retail, recruitment and corporate gym memberships.
What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales
Most Tech companies want and need to scale fast. This drives innovation, and fosters an environment of hard work where people aren't afraid to break things. It pushes collaboration and builds an excitement where everyone is joined by a common mission.
I love the fast-paced and challenging environment it brings, and how it pushes you to continuously improve yourself to become an even better problem solver.
Solved business problems = happy customers = more business growth.
What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales
Always be a student. Read books, industry news, blogs from industry leaders & founders you like.
Seek constructive feedback from those around you, and be prepared to do the work to improve on your week areas.
Make yourself as valuable to your team & company as possible. This goes beyond the minimum expected of you within the job role.

Why did you decide to join Tangent as a Mentor and why should others join as Mentors too
Tech Sales has been incredibly rewarding for me: the skills I have gained, the career progression, the customers I have solved problems for. I want to give back and offer mentorship in a way that I wish I had received when I started out.
My background of growing up on one of the UK's poorest councils estates meant I experienced many of the family & financial struggles one would expect from an environment like this.
I never had a 'leg up' in my professional career, and had to learn the long & hard way many times.
I know firsthand the talent that comes from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and how easily people can be overlooked. So I want to help those where I struggled.
