Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now
I currently work at Darktrace as an Account Executive. I’ve been fortunate to work for leading tech companies such as Cisco and Cloudflare. I’m passionate about technology and was previously on a more technical track before transitioning into sales.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active by regularly going to the gym and I’m a former black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Over the past two years, I’ve developed a love for travel and have had the chance to see some incredible places.
What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales
I was fortunate to do work experience at Cisco during my GCSEs, which sparked my passion for technology and set my goal to join the company after school. I later secured a place in Cisco’s early-in-career program, which helped me develop my skills and shape my career path.
Once I joined Cisco, I had a great manager who brought out the best in me and challenged me to grow. I also found a strong group of mentors who continue to support me to this day.
What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales
I believe tech is a great industry with no ceiling when it comes to earning potential, personal growth, and career development.
What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales
My advice to anyone starting in sales, especially in a BDR role, is to focus on developing your skills. Make your first role all about growth. Be relentless: bounce back from failure, push through rejection, and keep going.
The skills you build here lay the foundation for the rest of your career. Don’t rush the process, it’s more important than you think.
After that, find a mentor who’s walked the path and can help guide you as you navigate your journey.
