Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now

I'm originally from São Paulo, Brasil and have been based in Ireland for nearly 18 years now.

I've been a languages teacher for most part of my adult life and transitioned into the SaaS industry about 10 years ago.

I just started a new job at Sprout Social as a Renewal Manager looking after our strategic customers.

What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales

For a few years after I arrived here in Ireland, I kept teaching and working in the service industry. One day, one of the customers in the coffee shop I worked at the time mentioned she was looking for a Brazilian Portuguese to join her team and shared the job information with me. I didn't think about it twice! I took the opportunity and about a month and a half later, I started my first job in tech.

What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales

Chances are you will be working with amazing leaders and you will learn so much from them. The skills you gain during each position can be taken from one job to the next and this will increase your value which means, higher salaries, better benefits, more flexibility.
Plus you never know where you'll end up! You might start as a BDR and end up in product management, start in customer support and end as a RM. The options are endless!

What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales

For a new Renewals Manager I'd say learn how to forecast! Being able to accurately forecast will save you so much time (and unnecessary questions!) and it is one of the fastest ways to increase your credibility within the business.

Why did you decide to join Tangent as a Mentor and why should others join as Mentors too

The job market is ruthless and it can be really hard for young people to get started. For young people who don't have the privilege that some of us do of being able to reach to our network for support, to go back to our safety net, it is even harder. I just want to help level (at list a little bit!) the playing field for them with the added bonus of being able to keep developing my leadership skills.
