Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now
I’m currently an Account Executive at Huq Industries, where I help clients unlock value through location data. My background is in business strategy, SaaS, and partnerships, and I’ve always been driven by how data can shape smarter decision-making.
Right now, I’m deepening my understanding of data science and exploring sectors like finance, retail, real estate, and leisure - all while managing client relationships and offering career mentoring on the side. Outside of work, I’m focused on personal growth and experimenting with a few entrepreneurial ideas.
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me running, cycling, horse riding, socialising with friends, or writing non-fiction stories.
What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales
My journey into tech wasn’t linear, but it’s definitely been intentional. I’ve always known I wanted to be an entrepreneur and work in fast-paced, demanding environments that are also rewarding and full of growth. I started my career in fashion, working behind the scenes in client care and support at ASOS. That role sparked my interest in customer experience and operations, which led me to David Lloyd, where I worked as a senior consultant.
A major turning point came when I made the move from London to Dublin to join Salesforce. Just under two years there, I gained deep exposure to the maritime, logistics, and transport sectors - which really broadened my understanding of how tech can be applied in complex, global industries. That experience gave me the foundation to step into my current role at Huq Industries, where I combine my passion for data, strategy, and relationship-building in a dynamic, tech-driven environment.
What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales
One of the best things about working in tech is how fast-paced and ever-evolving it is. You’re constantly learning, whether it’s about new industries, emerging tools, or the way businesses operate. For someone like me, who thrives in dynamic environments, it’s the perfect space.
Working in sales specifically has really sharpened my ability to build relationships, communicate value clearly, and think strategically - skills that are incredibly transferable across industries and roles. Tech also offers incredible career development opportunities. The exposure you get to different markets, business models, and technologies opens doors not just within the sector, but also for entrepreneurial ventures, which is something I’m passionate about.
The earning potential is of course attractive, but what I value even more is the autonomy and flexibility that tech roles can offer. I see this as a strong foundation for whatever I choose to do next—whether it’s growing into leadership, pivoting into product or data strategy, or launching something of my own.
What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales
My biggest advice? Lead with curiosity and stay open to learning. Tech sales isn’t just about hitting targets - it’s about understanding people, solving problems, and becoming a trusted partner. Focus on helping others succeed, and the results will follow.
Resilience is key. You’ll face setbacks - deals fall through, goals feel out of reach - but those moments shape you. Every “no” teaches you something.
Also, own your unique background. I came from fashion and fitness before tech, and those experiences gave me skills I use every day. Your story is your strength.
Finally, think long-term. Sales is a launchpad! It can lead to leadership, product, data, or your own business. Keep growing, ask bold questions, and back yourself. Even when no one else does.
