Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now
I'm a digital nomad, based in Scotland, with over four years of experience in public sector SaaS sales. I am a dedicated and results-oriented professional with a flair for creative communication. In my current role, I manage a large sales pipeline for the UK market and am proud to be part of a global B Corp, Go Vocal.
What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales
I studied Business Management in London and worked during my final year within the university's career service. I was exposed to a variety of mentors, and the role opened lots of doors for me. Having been encouraged by a friend to interview for SDR roles through a recruitment agency, I went for it. I landed my first role in tech sales at Handshake, a fast-paced unicorn ed-tech startup expanding into Europe and was promoted within my first year.
What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales
The best thing about working in tech sales for me is being able to deliver new insights and influence others' thinking in new and different ways. My learning has been exponential, especially working for two fast-paced SaaS startups; the skills I have developed enabled me to quickly adapt to new technologies, strategies, and client needs.
What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales
If you’re starting a career in sales, remember this: own your growth like it’s your job, because it is. You are responsible for your own learning. The more curious, proactive, and self-taught you are, the faster you’ll grow, and the more success you’ll create for yourself.
