Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now

Born and raised in Leicester i moved to the Brighton for university and never looked back. Post studies worked in recruitment specialising in tech sales. After a few years I transitioned into a client success and have been applying my trade at Tracker ever since.

During my time at Tracker the business has transformed from a plucky start up into a major market player. This shift alongside a facilitating  leadership team has allowed me to grow with the company and now look after the U.K client success function.

Outside of work I am a bang average marathon runner and an Arsenal fan for my sins.

What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales

I never really thought about working in sales let alone tech.

Throughout my time in education and early career I just knew I enjoyed working directly with people. Like many, I just fell into a role in recruitment, and this allowed me to understand what I did and did not want to do.

Making the move client success has allowed me to take the best parts of previous roles and excel.

What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales

I enjoy the problem-solving part of my role.

Working with clients to understand an issue deeply, then presenting a fresh perspective. Therefore, having a direct impact on end users’ day to day experience.

Nothing is better than a client saying “I am sure we cannot do X” and then figuring out the perfect way to resolve the problem.

Over the last few years leading a team has opened new opportunities for me. Watching and aiding in their personal growth is something I take great pride in. You are only ever as good as the people around you.

What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales

Questions, questions and more questions.

Do not be afraid to approach anyone within the business to ask questions. This will not only increase knowledge but build confidence.

Why did you decide to join Tangent as a Mentor and why should others join as Mentors too

Growing up I did not know anyone who worked in professional business role, and this meant even post university I did not have a huge network to fall back on in terms of questions etc.

Talent is not something which is dictated by your socioeconomic background and as such everyone can achieve.

Tangent creates an environment where I can directly support people and ensure everyone has a shot at tech.

Why join? Think about all the help you have had across the years and where you might be without it. Now picture how much of that support came from being in a business environment. By giving some time back to people who don’t have access to these networks you can help them to break into the industry.
