Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now
I'm currently working as a CSM for Emburse and managing some of our largest customers across the EMEA region. We work with customers from across all different industries but have a high density of some of the biggest legal firms working with out products today.
Outside of work I am very much into sports and whilst I don't play as much as I used to I do a lot of running these days to help keep myself as fit as possible...I'm currently combining running with my love of football by trying to incorporate as many football stadiums into my runs as possible!
What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales
I very much fell into a career in tech. I studied Graphic Design at University and was set up for a career down that pathway but soon enough I had been working in a Finance department for a number of years and had developed knowledge in an area I never expected to! This experience then led onto working for tech companies to help drive customer outcomes through this industry insight.
What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales
There's always more and more tech being developed. The amount of companies that have been created in the last decade is huge and that in turn leads to huge amounts of opportunities for career progression.
What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales
Network with as many people as possible. This is the great thing about Tangent - it allows easy access to other professionals and a community on your doorstep. The more people you know in this industry the easier it is to understand current trends but the more likely it will be that opportunities will start to open up for you as well.
Why did you decide to join Tangent as a Mentor and why should others join as Mentors too
I've been looking to get into voluntary work but just haven't had the time to do so - Tangent gave me that opportunity in an area I understand and am passionate about without adding a load of extra commitments that I may not always be able to stick to. I wish this type of platform had been around for me when I was first starting out.
