Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now
I’m originally from Dublin, Ireland, and my path to working in tech has been a bit of an adventure! I started out in media sales before taking time to travel through South America, Australia, and Vietnam, working in hospitality and teaching along the way. When I returned home, I joined Meltwater in Dublin then moved to London to work with Gartner and I'm now with DataIQ
I’m passionate about helping others, love meeting new people, and try to get to as many music festivals as possible.
What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales
I was travelling and came back during covid but knew I wanted to make the move from media to tech. Meltwater was the company who took a chance on me and helped me get the foot in the door. I'll be forever grateful to my manager and director at the time
What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales
I love that the skills you gain in tech are so transferable, things like communication, negotiation, and understanding people are valuable in every part of life. Plus, the industry is full of social, motivated people (especially in sales!), so it’s always a fun and energetic environment to be part of.
What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales
Be curious, about everything. Take the time to understand how others approach their work, what your clients really care about, and what’s happening across the industry. The more you stay curious and keep learning, the more naturally you’ll grow and improve in your role.
Why did you decide to join Tangent as a Mentor and why should others join as Mentors too
I joined Tangent because I really wanted to give back and help others starting out in their careers. Many of the mentees have incredible potentia, they just need someone to believe in them, the same way someone once did for me at the start of my journey in tech.
