Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now

Born in Düsseldorf, raised in South East London and spent some time in my early twenties living in Ghana. I love travelling and experiencing the world.

Devout Christian, husband & avid Man United fan.

Currently an Enterprise BDR at Alokai - previously worked in SMB/Mid-market Saas roles.

What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales

I remember coming in as a mining engineer on career dress up day in primary school because I thought they searched for diamonds all day long haha.

Long story short, I stumbled into sales. My first ever job aged 17 was at Clarks as a sales assistant. Following which I moved into customer service during university. When I graduated I considered my options and liked the sound of being an SDR. I landed my first SDR role in tech sales in April 2023 and the rest is history...

What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales

3 things:

1. The skills you develop. Working in Tech Sales makes you an all rounder.

2. Career development. You have the opportunity to grow in many ways. Whether that's in scope, as an IC or manager or in a completely new function.

3. Earning potential. Tech Sales is one of few careers that responds to your level of achievement.

What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales

Have a strong why - Sales is challenging, if you're not grounded by strong motivations you may not last.

Have a vision - Some people are going nowhere fast. Sit down and have an idea of where you see yourself (i.e. industry, as an IC or manager and what role etc..)

Have a good attitude to learning - Sales is ever changing. There are many highs and lows. Learn from the good, learn from the bad. As long as you keep learning you'll move forward.

Why did you decide to join Tangent as a Mentor and why should others join as Mentors too

I believe in giving back. I didn't get here without any help.

Neither did you. Someone opened a door for you... it's only right you try and open a door for someone else!
