Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now

I’m currently working for Jakala, helping to set up outbound new business and supporting client strategy.

Outside of work, I'm kept busy with my newborn son, as well as loving my sports, travelling, and good food.

What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales

Following university, I began my career as a professional polo player, competing internationally while also managing clubs, coaching, and training young horses. While it may sound glamorous, the reality built resilience, discipline, and adaptability—skills that have proved invaluable in my career since.

After Covid, I transitioned into the business world, recruiting for SaaS companies across sales, customer success, marketing, and leadership roles. This gave me an external perspective on the tech industry, allowing me to build a strong network of top performers and hiring managers, gaining insight into their challenges, and understand the drivers of success in high-performing tech companies.

What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales

Tech, and specifically sales roles within tech, provide a huge opportunity to progress your career and earn quickly. It also develops skill sets that'll serve you well both personally and professionally, regardless of the route you take.

What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales

From a sales perspective, I’d recommend observing and learning from the top performers in your company. Study how they work—their process, tone, how they handle challenges, even the phrases they use. Test these approaches, keep what works/feels natural for you, and develop your own style from there.

Secondly, understand your "WHY". Having personal motivations that drive you on a deeper level will help you go again after the tough calls or quarters that will undoubtedy come.

Why did you decide to join Tangent as a Mentor and why should others join as Mentors too

I’ve always been keen to support others, and after first speaking with Gary, I saw Tangent as a fantastic initiative—helping people break into tech while giving companies access to untapped talent.

Everyone needs a leg up at some stage, and being able to provide that and see others succeed is something I’m proud to be part of.
