Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now

I have been in the tech sales industry for 7 years now, and have had the opportunity to work at a cybersecurity start up, IT reseller, and larger enterprise software company.

Personally I love talking about real estate investing, outdoor hikes and adventures, and reading

What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales

I started out as a mechanical engineering student, and realized at my first internship that I did not care for that kind of work.

I wanted to more, and to interact with more people. So I looked for sales engineer roles only to be shut out because I didn't have any sales experience. I applied to around 80 sales jobs until I finally got an interview at an IT reseller. I learned and honed my sales skills there, and that began my tech sales career.

What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales

The pay, the people, and the remote work. The pay is fantastic, and if you find the right people, it can be really fun to work at these companies. Working remotely also gives a lot of freedom for travel or working on a side business

What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales

Know its going to be hard, but really make sure you like it most of the time. Sales is very mentally taxing, especially at first, and it is critical that you have the right people around you. You need friends, and people who understand the challenge, are there with you, and they make the job fun

Why did you decide to join Tangent as a Mentor and why should others join as Mentors too

I wanted to help others achieve their dreams and goals in an area where I feel I can help. I felt like I have been lucky in my life to get where I am, and I want to share the knowledge and skills I have learned.
