Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now

I'm originally from Turin, Italy and moved to the UK 9 years ago and lived in Spain, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands as well. I've been working at Splunk (a Cisco company) for almost 2 years, where I have the privilege to work with some of the most innovative FSI companies that are setting the standards for Security and Observability practices globally. I started my career as an Analytical chemist and innovation and having a positive impact as well as growing up in professional sports (volleyball), are the pillars of my identity.

What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales

While I was working as a chemist especially in precious metals, we were looking after multiple clients and that relationship as well as the way the market affected the inflow of samples, piqued my interest. I had also a second knee surgery coming from my previous one in my volleyball career that forced me to stop working and that's when I came across my first BDR role at disguise. Not an easy time of my life but looking back I'm so proud I made the jump.

What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales

The speed at which SaaS companies move is incomparable and the chances for career development are so vast, as well as the variety of backgrounds of my colleagues. Being methodical, rational and calm is what I really owe to the chemistry and sports days, the nerves are always there but years of preparation definitely helped

What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales

Be motivated and remember every time why you are there and what you're trying to achieve, plus, be yourself. The environment is extremely competitive and you can't excel at being someone else

Why did you decide to join Tangent as a Mentor and why should others join as Mentors too

I moved to the UK by myself and that resulted in navigating a lot of tricky situations while figuring things out on the spot, a friendly mentor would've really made the difference. I'm also a first generation scholar and the first to have a professional job in my immediate family so the interview processes where completely new to me so I'm trying to be the person I would've needed.
